You might have experienced a scarcity of creativeness at some point in your career. Some days your brain gives you dozens of design ideas in a single day and other days it’s barren from lack of creativity. This feeling of a blocked mind leaves you extremely frustrated and demotivated, doesn’t it? But worry not, we have a little trick to share with you so you can keep your creative ideas flowing.

Think

First of all, think about the basic structure of your design. Like color, layout, elements, etc. You don’t necessarily have to think of a unique design. I am not asking you to imagine anything new at all. Just pick up something from your previous work and go ahead. You might make changes in your imagined structure later on, and that’s okay. But having an uncertain idea is better than having nothing in mind.

Get Inspired

Now that you have a basic structure of your design in your mind. Go to designs platforms to get inspired. Visit Pinterest, Dribble, and Behance for inspiration. You will see so many awesome designs created by their talented designers. You will notice that each designer has a unique designing style.

Analyze

Create a mood board and add some best designs you liked. You should have 10-15 designs on your mood board.

Now analyze each design thoroughly and find what’s best about that design like:

How they use geometric shapes in their designs:

In this session, you’ll notice what colors they use, how to combine colors, how they use gradients, how they set alignments, how much white space they leave, how they arrange elements, which types of color and elements they use, etc. In the end, you will have a good amount of data to process.

Create

Now, you will have everything to create a new design. Use all the data you’ve collected from a long analysis session and get started. Fool around with every element and color you’ve seen on those designs. After some time, you will get an idea about what you want and start making something creative. But make sure you are not copying the entire design from any designer. You should only get an idea about what you are going to create.

Conclusion

This is what I do when I hit the designer’s block. What is your way of dealing with it? Comment down your method and let me know so that we can apply that as well. And don’t forget to share this article with your designer friends to help them out.
